Do you know what helps me stay within the boundaries and do what I do? It is not so much my faith, as it is others faith in me. I love you and I respect you, so I don’t want to let you down. So, I do my best to obey the Scriptures, do what is right, and look for new ways of serving Christ, because I don’t want to let you down. It is my responsibility to you, and I take it very seriously.
So, with that simple thought in mind, what if Abraham’s motivation was not just his faith in God, but also his knowing that God had faith in him? I do a lot of things, not because I have faith in people, but because I know that people have faith in me; they are counting on me, and I cannot let them down.
I love God, He has faith in me, and I cannot let Him down. I love Sherry, she has faith in me, and I cannot let her down. It is a “Bi-Directional Faith” that helps keep me on the straight and narrow. You are invited to join Dr. T. D. Worthington for this week’s edition of PathLight.
