In our commercial age, it is easy for us to let sentimental Holiday movies and candy-striped decorations shape our vision of Christmas. Accordingly, it’s easy to misread the story of Christ’s birth.
When that happens, we may still use biblical language, but without understanding the whole story we miss the deeper meaning. This is why it is so important to see the warfare imagery attached to Christmas. In Scripture, the birth of Jesus was not a holiday; it was instead the fulfillment of an ancient promise—that God would fight for his people.
So, to understand Christ’s Incarnation, we must see how His birth inaugurated a military campaign to end all wars. The Christmas story teaches us that the arm of the Lord, now identified as Jesus Christ, would destroy His enemies and save His people.
Join us as Dr. T. D. Worthington, President of Pathway Ministries and Christian Bible College, shares the message of “Was Christmas An Act of War?” on this week’s edition of PathLight.
